Walter Wellborn completed the 2021 season with a 5-5 record. With their 4-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class 3A region five, the Panthers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2021. The Panthers will be in the mix for one of the last two playoff spots in region four this season. The Panthers open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Anniston on Friday, August 19 at The Hill. Last year the Anniston Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 5-5 and in fourth place in Class 4A region four. The Bulldogs lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to St. James by a score of 28-26. Walter Wellborn and Anniston have met a total of 37 times on the football field.
